1. The Main Line. Boston has nothing on Philadelphia when it comes to old money that buys young faces. Now, of course, young bodies are available too in the form of liposuction, breast augmentation and tummy tucks. The good people of Bryn Mawr, Ardmore, Berwyn and Wayne have seen to it that Philadelphia has a long and honorable tradition of cosmetic surgery.
2. South Philly cheese steaks. Jim's Steaks comes to mind, but everybody has his or her favorite steak shop. Philly cheese steak sandwiches and a copy of the Inquirer sports page have become a habit for generations of Philadelphians, which has led to generations of residents trying to lose weight. Many have chosen to take the quick route, through liposuction, the tummy tuck and some of the other tucks that are now available on the cosmetic surgery menu.
3. The Philadelphia Art Museum. Wasn't that where Rocky Balboa ran the stairs? Anyway, he was getting in shape for an entirely different type of exhibition. The Philadelphia Art Museum is one of the nation's finest, as is the Philadelphia Orchestra, resident ensemble at the Kimmel Performing Arts Center.
Philadelphia's vibrant cultural life is supported by a large group of successful city residents and contributors from surrounding towns. Evening wear is still seen regularly in Philadelphia. The city's cosmetic surgeons help the locals look their best on those big nights out.
4. General civic pride. It's not easy living across the river from Camden, New Jersey. Philadelphia has one of the nation's richest historical legacies. It is the city where the Articles of Confederation, The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution were all put to paper and signed. Benjamin Franklin used to roll his barrow full of printer's paper down the street to his print shop.
Civic pride calls for personal excellence as well, in appearance and dress. Those Philadelphians dedicated to maintaining the city's business community and its civic character can turn to Philadelphia's fine group of plastic surgeons to maintain that personal appearance well into the golden years.
5. The University of Pennsylvania. Many people are surprised to learn that Penn is in the Ivy League. Or that Philadelphia and its environs are home to Bryn Mawr, Swarthmore and a number of other extremely high quality, extremely selective institutions of learning. Some of those schools actually care who the parents are.
If you're going to present your child for enrollment, you'll want to be sharp of eye, toned of skin and lacking of jowls. Turn to your Philadelphia plastic surgeon for help and guidance on how to achieve the necessary look for that important campus tour.
